About Takshakeshwar Nath Takshak Teerth Bada Shivalaya

The famous Takshakeshwar Nath Temple located on the banks of Yamuna in Sangam city is the only Takshak pilgrimage site in the world. Presently this place comes in Daryabad area. This site has been preserved since ancient times and the remains of Sheshnag are still present here. This was a Shivling established in huge dense forests on the banks of the Yamuna. However, in materialism, the existence of the forest has ended here. This place in Prayagraj is famous by the name of “Bada Shivala”. The antiquity and mythology of this Shivling is recorded in the Puranas themselves. Takshakeshwar Nath is mentioned in the 82nd chapter of Prayag Mahatamya of 82 Patal Khand of Padma Purana. It is believed that whoever visits Lord Shiva in this temple and his descendants are never bitten by a snake. That is, he becomes free from the snake venom obstacle.

Mythology of Takshakeshwar Nath
The priest of the temple Shri Ravi Shankar ji narrates the mythology of this temple and tells that the history of Takshakeshwar Nath temple is more than 5000 years old. Whose mention is found in the 82nd chapter of Prayag Mahatamya of 82 Patal Khand of Padma Purana. According to legend, when King Parikshit was bitten by Takshak Nag, these five idols were installed as an atonement for him and a boon was given that whoever visited this temple, his descendants would never be bitten by the snake. Poison will not be an obstacle. According to another legend, Takshak Nag, after being banished from Mathura by Lord Krishna, resided at this place, which is known as Takshak Kund. It has been said in the Puranas that Takshak is the master of the entire snake race, Shri Takshak is the chief in Kalyug and since ancient times he is residing in Prayag, the capital of religion.
