About Sri Sri Mankameshwar Mandir
Mankameshwar Mandir Prayagraj is located on the banks of river Yamuna. This temple is one of the oldest temples in the world dedicated to Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati. This temple is also mentioned in Skanda Puranam & Prayaga Mahatmyam. It has idols of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. It is believed that Mata Sita & Rama also performed pujas & abhisheka pujas in the temple during the Treta Yuga.

Legendary of the Temple
According to legend, when Goddess Sita bathed in the confluence, she wanted to pray to Lord Shiva. But there is no Shiva temple near Sangam. Lord Rama built a new temple for Goddess Sita thus fulfilling her wish and this temple was named Mankameswar. Even now it is believed that sincere wishes made in this temple will be fulfilled.
Architecture of the Temple
The temple has a three-and-a-half feet black stone Shivling and is said to have been installed by Lord Rama himself. Nandi and Ganesh, Hanuman, banyan and peepal tree idols can also be seen in the temple complex. The temple also houses the Ran Mukteshwar Shiva Lingam, which means ‘The Great God, the Redeemer’.
