About Kalimath Temple
Kalimath Temple is a highly revered Goddess Kali Maa temple located at Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, India. The temple is located at an altitude of around 6,000 feet in the banks of holy Saraswati River. Kalimath is one of the “Siddha Peeths” of the region and is held in high religious esteem. According to Srimad Devi Bhagwat, this is one of the 108 Shakti Peethas of Goddess Sati. The goddess is worshiped here as Sri Yantra.

The place where the goddess goes underground becomes a ditch and after that it is covered by silver plate permanently and never opened except the day of Navaratri. Kalimath is also the only temple where Kali Maa is worshiped along with Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Saraswati. The temple is visited by thousands of devotees during the Navratras Festival.
Kal Ratri Festival falls on the 8th day of Navratri, the Ashtami day.
Goddess Lakshmi Mata temple is located just 15 foot distance from Kalimath Temple. Here an eternal holy flame always burns since three Hindu era period. The divine rock Kaali Shila, where the foot prints of Goddess Kali Maa is present is located 7 km uphill and need to trek by foot.
Kalimath is also the place where the great classical Sanskrit writer Kalidas meditated.
